Melbourne Match

It’s been a big few weeks for Melbourne Match with the national media jumping on the Love Train and a debate heating up between Sydney and Melbourne as to who has the best male talent.

“Hands off our boys” quoted a furious Melbourne woman to the Herald Sun, while the Sun-Herald NSW uncovered a conspiracy to “lure Sydney’s women away”.

Which left this matchmaker feeling a little confused. Was this an AFL match or a creative dating campaign? Since when did dating someone from interstate become so competitive?

In true Sydney style, the crowd that gathered at our “Meet The Girls” breakfast at Bambini Trust looked good enough to eat and it wasn’t hard to see, why the Melbourne women and Sydney men were feeling a little bit envious.

It was full of eight well-dressed, good-looking women looking for a creative man to show them the delights of Melbourne.

And the theory was simple:

Creative Melbourne Men + Sydney Women = A Perfect Match.

So as I sat down, sharpening my arrows and smoothing my designer wings I instantly went into matchmaker mode

Did all the ladies have different looks?

Check.

Was there someone on a physical level to suit each of the Melbourne men? Check.

Did she just say she loved food and thought Jason seemed really nice on TV?  Oh good, checkmate.

“That’s a nice necklace, where did you get it? Oh, you collect vintage jewellery do you?” How perfect you would be for a diamond merchant I thought to myself.

Then, it was time for their questions.

“Were all the men midgets?” No. “Were they really all straight?” Yes.

“Is Tobie as cool as he seemed on the Today Show?” Yes.

One vivacious redhead (no I’m not talking about myself) was super-excited at the idea of visiting the Dali exhibition, a welcome respite from reviewing Sydney’s elaborate social scene.

Another gorgeous brunette was all about Jersey Boys - prompting a bit of a mini-musical from a very trendy blonde who couldn’t wait to explore the vintage shops.

Then there was the rock-chick who was really excited about sampling the Melbourne resutrants & bars on her five star date.

As I looked around the table at the eight beautiful ladies all hoping to have their appetite for romance fed, I realised there was one thing that would satisfy them all…
